Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride Treatment

At Prestige Dental, we offer fluoride treatment to prevent tooth decay for our patients. Fluoride intake is often recommended for infants and children between the ages of 6 months and 16 years. During this time, primary and permanent teeth are developing.

Fluoride is applied to the teeth in a varnish form using a brush. Fluoride helps by making the tooth more resistant to the build-up of decay causing plaque and sugars. It can also speed re-mineralization as well as disrupt acid erosion in teeth.

In addition to receiving fluoride treatment at our dental office, it can be applied to the teeth through fluoridated toothpaste and mouth rinse. Mouth rinse containing fluoride in lower strengths are available over-the-counter.

However, stronger mouth rinse can be prescribed as needed. Our dentist will advise you about your child’s fluoride needs.
We strive to provide you with the highest quality care, including the use of fluoride. For more information or to request an appointment, contact Prestige Dental.

FAQs

Q1. What is fluoride treatment and why is it important?
Fluoride treatment is a professional application that strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent cavities. At Prestige Dental, fluoride is often recommended as an added layer of protection after cleanings.

Q2. Is fluoride treatment safe for children and adults?
Yes. Fluoride is safe when applied in the right amount by a dental professional. Prestige Dental uses clinically appropriate fluoride levels for both children and adults based on individual needs.

Q3. How often should I get fluoride treatment?
Many patients benefit from fluoride every 3–12 months. Prestige Dental will recommend the right schedule depending on your cavity risk, past dental history, and enamel strength.

Q4. How long does fluoride treatment take?
Fluoride treatment is quick—usually just a few minutes. After application, Prestige Dental will provide simple aftercare instructions to help you get the best results.

Q5. Do I need fluoride if I brush with fluoride toothpaste?
Fluoride toothpaste helps daily, but professional fluoride is stronger and can provide extra protection—especially if you’re prone to cavities, have sensitivity, or wear braces. Prestige Dental can help determine if you’ll benefit.
